This tutorial covers two methods of composite optimization. Parts 1 and 2 cover the recommended method of utilizing Laminate Families while part 3 demonstrates the task performed with Orphan Laminates.
Select Laminate Design Property Material

Open the "LF Design Study" Design Property from the Property Tree.

Right-click on the "Material" cell and choose "Select Composite" from the context menu.

In the "Select Ply Materials" form, select "Simple Tape" and click "Ok" to confirm.

Click "Apply" to save the changes to the Design Property.
Size Upper Skin
Open Laminate Family Generator

With the upper skin selected, click on the "Laminate Family" button on the Composite tab of the Ribbon.

Select "Generate Laminate Family".

Select "From sizing results".
Generate Multiple Laminate Families

Define a "Family Name Prefix".

Select the dropdown beneath the "Generate Laminate Family" button.

Select the "Upside-Down Triangle", "Hourglass", "Interleaved", and "Interleaved Hourglass" Stacking Options.

Select the "Midplane" and "Ply Skip" Permutations.

Click the "Generate Laminate Family" button.
Switch to Detailed Sizing and Assign Laminate Families

Open the "LF Design Study" Design Property from the Property Tree.

Switch the Sizing Mode to "Detailed Sizing".

Right-click on the "Material" cell and choose "Select Laminate Family(s)" from the context menu.

Select all of the Laminate Families with the "Family Name Prefix" you set in Step 6.

Click "Apply".

Sequence "Best" Laminate Family Sizing Results
When the Sequencing form is opened (from the Composite tab of the Ribbon), it performs a “quick” Sequence, which assembles Plies from the existing solution. Since we already picked a Laminate Family based on its producibility (previous part), this is all we need to do.
Visualize Plies

In the Structure Tree, click "Plies" to enable Ply display in the Viewport.

In the Composite tab of the Ribbon, click the "Topological View".

Click the "Ply View Options" button to change visualization settings.
