Visualizing and reporting HyperX results outside of HyperX is a challenge we're always trying to improve upon. Combining results data and screenshots can be useful but provide diminishing returns with large and/or complicated models. Exchanging HyperX design results with CAD software presents similar challenges. While HyperX features a growing suite of tools to better connect it with CAD/CAM software, they are typically better suited towards later stages of the design cycle. As of HyperX version 2026.1.13, you can export a 3D snapshot of the FEM and FEM-based Entities in .obj format that can be imported/viewed in Microsoft Office Products and CAD software.

This feature presents a simple, rapid, and interactive method of sharing HyperX results with various kinds of external software to improve communication and collaboration.
When you export an OBJ version of the model, it will export any FEM-based Entities, Plies, and Labels currently visible in the Viewport including any Sizing/Analysis results currently viewed in the Legend. Once the model is displaying the information you want, click the "Export CAD" button on the Model tab of the Ribbon.
Next, choose the save type "OBJ (Mesh-based only)", specify the name and location of the file and click "Save".
This will save two files, one in the .obj format and the other in .mtl format. When you want to import the model into a document or CAD software, you will import the .obj file. However, the .mtl file must be in the same folder as the .obj to properly color the model according to the results shown in the Legend.
The OBJ model can be imported into Microsoft Office documents. The simplest way is to drag and drop the file from File Explorer onto the document. Alternatively, you can open Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc., go to the "Insert" tab, and click on the "3D Models" button. Next, select "This Device..." from the dropdown.
Select the model that you want to import and click "Insert". It may take some time to load into the document. Once the import is complete, you can rotate the model (using the control highlighted in red below) and resize the rendering area as needed.
The OBJ model can also be imported into CAD/CAM software like CATIA. This differs from our other HyperX-to-CAD tools in that it doesn't require CAD Entities to be generated. While it may not be quite as powerful as exchanging CAD Entities directly, this feature allows for a more rapid exchange of HyperX data to CAD/CAM tools including:
