Organizational entities, namely Structures and Sets, are organized in the Structures Tree, found on the left-hand side of the Viewport. Entities organized in the Tree can be created, edited, and deleted using the right click menu. Hide/show toggles are also found here. The circles to the right of each entity indicate the entity's view status in the Viewport. Also note that a single left-click on a single node or combination of nodes will cause the corresponding entities (if currently 'shown') to be selected/highlighted.
Note
All Structures and Sets that are organized here live in the current Project and therefore cannot be shared by all Projects in that Database.
The search bar allows the user to search for specific entities (Structure names, Property IDs, etc.) that are organized in the Structures Tree. To the right of the search bar are buttons that can be used to further manipulate the Tree.
-
Tree data - Allows for selected data characteristic to Tree entities to be reported on the node level of the Tree. For example, if "Weights" was selected, the weight of each Set and Structure will be shown next to the name in the corresponding entity's node.
-
All - Overrides current selection to show all Structures in the Viewport.
-
Collapse - Collapses all Tree nodes.
-
Sync - Finds the Zone(s) that are currently selected in the Viewport and highlight's them in the corresponding location in the Tree (thereby 'syncing' the Tree with the Viewport).
Tip
The Structure Tree can be pinned/collapsed and dragged about the Viewport as needed. As Trees are moved, the layout is documented and managed behind the scenes in a configuration file (C:\HyperX\Settings\HyperXDockingLayout.xml). This way your chosen layout can be maintained in each subsequent HyperX session.
To restore the original tree layout, close all HyperX instances and delete the config file mentioned above.
Each Set and Structure in the Project has its own node in the Structures tree. They are organized accordingly.
Tip
Tree nodes can be clicked + dragged to different locations in the Tree for enhanced organization control.
Sets Node - The "Sets" tree node contains subdivisions for all Sets in the Database.
Structures Node(s) - Each Structure has its own Tree node. Within this node, the Structure is further divided by design types that have been assigned to Zones in that Structure. Any Zone that has not been assigned a design will be organized here under "Unassigned FEM Properties".
Section Cut Node - The "Section Cuts" Tree node contains subdivisions for all Section Cuts in the Database.
Note
As of HyperX Version 2024, all Structure Tree Entities can be further organized into folders (just like on the CAD Tree). Click the icon in the upper right-hand corner of the tree to give it a try!
