The FEM Tree, found on the left-hand side of the Viewport, facilitates the organization of all FEM entities - elements, properties, grids, materials, and coordinate systems. It can also show entities organized by INCLUDE Files and HyperMesh.
All FEM entities listed in the Tree can be hidden, shown, or selected using the right-click menu. Like all other Trees, any entity that is selected in the FEM Tree (and is currently 'shown' in the Viewport) will be highlighted. Also note that hovering the cursor over a single node will show the corresponding FEM definition, taken directly from the input file. Selected elements and properties can be placed into new Structures via the right click > Create Structure option.
The search bar allows the user to search for specific FEM entities (property names, material IDs, etc.) that are organized in the FEM Tree. To the right of the search bar are buttons that can be used to further manipulate the tree.

Include - Reorganizes the FEM Tree nodes based on INCLUDE file structure (if applicable). This feature is particularly useful, as it piggy-backs off of user-specified FEM organization.

ALL - Show all FEM entities in the Viewport.

Collapse - Collapses all Tree nodes.

Sync - Finds the FEM entities that are currently selected in the Viewport and highlight's them in the corresponding location in the Tree (thereby 'syncing' the tree with the Viewport).
Tip
The FEM Tree can be pinned/collapsed and dragged about the viewport as needed. As Trees are moved, the layout is documented and managed behind the scenes in a configuration file (C:\HyperX\Settings\HyperXDockingLayout.xml). This way your chosen layout can be maintained in each subsequent HyperX session.
To restore the original Tree layout, close all HyperX instances and delete the config file mentioned above.
All FEM entities are shown in the FEM Tree. However, only FEM properties have their own functional Tree nodes. All other entities - elements (grouped by type), grids, coordinate systems, etc. - show only the amount of that entity that exist in the FEM, rather than listing each to its own node.
Properties that have not been organized into a Structure are considered to be 'unused FEM.' Once properties have been placed into Structures, their corresponding FEM Tree node will show a green check mark. This indicates that property has now been committed to the Structures Tree and can now be managed there.
