CAD Entities are used for a variety of purposes in HyperX such as user reference, augmenting analysis (by measuring CAD features to capture dimensions used for analysis), and importing or exporting Plies.
CAD Entities are displayed and organized independently from Zones, Structures, and Sets. Those entities can be found in the Structures Tree whereas CAD Entities are found in the CAD Tree. Also, unlike those other entities, they are not directly Analyzable although some can be generated based on Sizing results of other entities.

These Entities can be created directly in HyperX or imported from CAD software.
CAD Entities are visible in the Viewport and organized in the CAD Tree. Like other entities in HyperX, they are selectable and will be highlighted in both the Viewport and CAD Tree when selected. You can also use the CAD Tree or Viewport controls to show and hide CAD Entities.
HyperX features a number of utilities to modify and measure CAD Entities. These utilities help you to track and visualize changes to your design without having to constantly switch between multiple programs.
CAD Entities are also directly integrated into the Ply Manager making it much simpler to keep your CAD model up to date with your composite analysis. Taking it further with Discrete Fields, you can map as-manufactured fiber directions and view them directly in HyperX.
You can also generate CAD Entities for stiffeners/beams and grid-stiffened concepts based on Sizing results to export optimized geometry more easily.

Our goal with HyperX's CAD integrations is to tighten the Digital Thread and keep your design, analysis, and manufacturing data in-sync much more efficiently than you could replicate using multiple other tools.
