Rivet entities define the mechanism by which two zones are to be attached to one another in a riveted joint. In HyperX, Rivet entities are referenced by joint design properties to define the material and rivet properties of selected edge or point joints.

Rivets reference a bolt material (Metallic) to define stiffness parameters. All other rivet specifications are defined directly on the rivet entity.

Rivets are assigned to joints through design properties. They are added to the Joint Design Property via the Rivet Selection dropdown.

Rivets are Database-level entities, and therefore can be shared between Projects in the database, saved as part of a Database Template, and imported/exported between databases.
Creating a rivet involves manually generating and defining a rivet entity that does not yet exist in the HyperX Database. There are several different mechanisms for initiating this process:
Option #1: From the Ribbon

Navigate to the Material tab of the Ribbon

Click the 'Create Rivet' icon and select 'Create' from the rise-up menu.
This will result in a new, blank Rivet Definition form.

Fill out all required data for the rivet - including sheet material, rivet diameter, thickness relation table for allowables, etc.
To find out what data is required, click 'Apply'. Any necessary data that has not been filled in will be indicated with a red box.

Click 'Apply' to save the newly defined rivet to the current Database.
Option #2: From the Property Tree

Expand the 'Library' drop-down in the Property Tree.

Right-click on the Rivets node and select 'Create Rivet'
This will result in a new, blank Rivet Definition form.

Fill out all required data for the rivet - including sheet material, rivet diameter, thickness relation table for allowables, etc.
To find out what data is required, click 'Apply'. Any necessary data that has not been filled in will be indicated with a red box.

Click 'Apply' to save the newly defined rivet to the current Database.
Option #3: From the Library

Open the Rivet Library...

... by double-clicking on the corresponding node on the Property Tree

... by selecting 'Library' after clicking the corresponding icon on the Material tab of the Ribbon

Select 'Create' from the bottom lefthand corner of the material library window
This will result in a new, blank Rivet Definition form.

Fill out all required data for the rivet - including sheet material, rivet diameter, thickness relation table for allowables, etc.
To find out what data is required, click 'Apply'. Any necessary data that has not been filled in will be indicated with a red box.

Click 'Apply' to save the newly defined rivet to the current Database.
An existing rivet is edited when the sheet material is changed, various rivet specifications are updated, etc. All editing operations can be done directly in HyperX from the corresponding fastener definition form.

Launch the Rivet Library by double-clicking on the 'Rivets' node in the Library of the Property Tree.

Select the Rivet desired to edit and click 'Edit'

In the resulting Rivet Form, edit the rivet definition as desired. Click 'Apply' to save any changes made.
Any rivet definition can be deleted from the database using the controls in the rivet library.
A rivet cannot be deleted if it is being referenced by a design property. To delete a rivet, it must be completely dissociated from all design properties.

Launch the Rivet Library by double-clicking on the Rivets node in the Library of the Property Tree.

Select all rivets desired to remove

Click 'Delete' at the bottom of the library form to delete selected rivets.
