Fastener entities define the mechanism by which two Zones are to be attached in a Fastened Joint. In HyperX, Fastener entities are referenced by Joint Design Properties to define the material and fastener properties.
An example HyperX Fastener definition is shown in the image below. Note the parallel to a typical fastener spec sheet seen in the industry for convenience.

Creating a Fastener involves manually generating and defining a Fastener entity that does not yet exist in the HyperX Database. There are several different mechanisms for initiating this process:
Option #1: From the Ribbon

Navigate to the Material tab of the Ribbon

Click the 'Create Fastener' icon and select 'Create' from the rise-up menu. This will result in a new, blank Fastener Definition form.

Fill out all required data for the Fastener - including Bolt Material, diameter relation table, allowables, etc.
To find out what data is required, click 'Apply'. Any necessary data that has not been filled in will be indicated with a red box.

Click 'Apply' to save the newly defined Fastener to the current Database.
Option #2: From the Property Tree

Expand the 'Library' drop-down in the Property Tree.

Right-click on the Fasteners node and select 'Create Fastener'. This will result in a new, blank Fastener Definition form.

Fill out all required data for the Fastener - including Bolt Material, diameter relation table, allowables, etc.
To find out what data is required, click 'Apply'. Any necessary data that has not been filled in will be indicated with a red box.

Click 'Apply' to save the newly defined Fastener to the current Database.
Option #3: From the Material Library

Open the Fastener Library...

... by double-clicking on the corresponding node on the Property Tree.

... by selecting 'Library' after clicking the corresponding icon on the Material tab of the Ribbon.

Select 'Create' from the bottom lefthand corner of the Fastener Library window. This will result in a new, blank Fastener Definition form.

Fill out all required data for the Fastener - including Bolt Material, diameter relation table, allowables, etc.
To find out what data is required, click 'Apply'. Any necessary data that has not been filled in will be indicated with a red box.

Click 'Apply' to save the newly defined Fastener to the current Database.
An existing Fastener is edited when the Bolt Material is changed, various bolt specifications are updated, etc. All editing operations can be done directly in HyperX from the corresponding Fastener Definition form.

Launch the Fastener Library by double-clicking on the 'Fasteners' node in the Library of the Property Tree.

Select the Fastener desired to edit and click 'Edit'.

In the resulting Fastener Form, edit the Fastener Definition as desired. Click 'Apply' to save any changes made.
Any Fastener definition can be deleted from the Database using the controls in the Fastener Library.
Important
A Fastener cannot be deleted if it is being referenced by a Design Property. In order to delete a Fastener, it must be completely dissociated from all Design Properties.

Launch the Fastener Library by double clicking on the Fasteners node in the Library of the Property Tree.

Select all Fasteners desired to remove.

Click 'Delete' in the bottom of the library form to delete selected Fasteners.
