Objective: Analyze Plies, optionally with as-manufactured fiber directions.
Plies can be Analyzed at any time by clicking the Analyze button on the Run tab of the Ribbon. Plies are a Structure-level entity, whereas Analysis is done on a Zone or Element basis. Therefore, a connection between the Plies and Zones is automatically maintained by HyperX.
First, Zone boundaries must always align with Ply boundaries. If the user creates or edits a Ply that has a boundary on the interior of a Zone, HyperX will automatically create new Zones to match the Ply boundaries.
Second, the Laminate on a Zone must match the through-thickness stack of Plies on top of that Zone. This is done through Analysis Overrides. The Analysis Overrides are automatically updated by HyperX regardless of how the Plies are modified (manually, through Sequencing, etc.).
Caution
Changing the Analysis Overrides, either directly or indirectly (copying from results) will cause any existing Plies to be deleted.
Plies must already exist on the Structure in order to Analyze. They can be generated automatically with Sequencing, created manually, or imported.
If desired, Plies can be Analyzed using fiber directions that vary per Ply, per element. See Import Discrete Fields and How to Map Fiber Directions to Plies for instructions to import and map these fiber directions.
Element-based Load Property must be used to Analyze variable fiber directions. The user can decide to include these fiber directions on a per-Ply basis either on the Ply Manager or Ply Form.
When this setting is active, Analysis will use the vectors assigned to each Element in each Ply with a Discrete Field, rather than the "Orientation" set on the Ply.
Plies are Analyzed in the same way as any other setup - select Zones to be Analyzed and click the Analyze button on the Run tab of the Ribbon.

Plot Analysis results on the model in the Viewport using the Legend. Try utilizing the Probe to display results values for specific model features of interest.

Print an Analysis Detail Report to gain additional understanding on the failure criteria and resulting margins for each Zone for the last iteration.
