Objective: Properly set up working folder, licensing, and help content in order to smoothly run HyperX.
The HyperX environment consists of a working directory, licensing information, and help content - all of which must be set up properly in order to operate HyperX. These settings can be found on the Application Settings form, which can be launched both on the splash screen and from the Help menu on the View tab of the Ribbon.
None. This operation can be done at any time. However, it is recommended to do so immediately after installing to ensure proper setup.
The Application Settings Form, indicated by a cog icon, is found in two locations:
-
From the Launch Screen - this option is most convenient when opening the software for the first time directly from the executable
-
From the View Tab of the Ribbon
The Project Working Folder is a file location on the user's computer that HyperX will use to write temp files. This is done on a per-Project basis. When a Project is created in a HyperX Database, a new folder - which shares the name of the Project - will be created in the working folder. All temp files corresponding to that Project will be stored here.
By default, the Working Folder is set to the path indicated in the image below upon installation. However, the user can change this at any time by using the "..." button to navigate to a new file location.
License settings allow HyperX to check out a purchased license. The software can not be used without appropriate licensing settings.
Tip
If you are getting a licensing error message, try clicking Clear License Configuration to clear the current selection and reconfigure your setup from scratch.
-
License File - If given an individual license file specific to one computer, the License File option should be selected. After, use the corresponding "..." icon to navigate to the file folder location of that license file.
-
License Server - If using a shared, team-style license that lives on a company server, select the License Server option. Then, fill in the appropriate server and port information.
Note
If your license server has not yet been configured, see Setting Up a FlexNet Server License or Setting Up the HyperX License Server on Linux.
-
License Host OS - Choose the operating system that your license server is hosted on.
Caution
Linux license servers are only supported by HyperX version 2024.2.13 and later. Attempting to access a HyperX license on a Linux machine from an earlier version will result in a Bad handshake detected error message.
HyperX users are automatically given access to all Help Center content with purchase of the software. This content can be accessed either online (requiring internet connection), or locally via files that come with the HyperX install. The Online Help Center is recommended for most users. Local help is recommended for users in secure facilities.
Caution
Online help is typically more up-to-date, whereas local help is only as current as the version it was shipped with.
